The United Nations Day of Vesak commemorates the Birth of the Lord Buddha, His Attainment of Enlightenment (Nirvãna) and His Death (Parinirvãna) with the religious activities in His remembrance. Most notably, this 10th International Celebration of the Occasion of United Nations Day of Vesak 2013 also coincides with the Celebration of the 100th Birthday Aniversary of His holiness Somdet Phra Nyãnasamvara, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand

I hereby extend my sincere congratulations for Thailand’s successful organization of the United Nations Day of Vesak to pay homage to the Lord Buddha and also my felicitations to Thai Government, Thai Sangha and all those who made great effort and contributions to these remarkable and precious activities for all Thais and Buddhists worldwide.
