Buddhism and Deep Ecology: An Appraisal
Dr. Arvind Kumar Singh has spent his early life in the spiritual ambience of Bodh-Gaya (Bihar), the place of the Buddha's Enlightenment. Dr. Singh completed all his higher degrees from University of Delhi.
Presently, Dr. Singh has been teaching in the capacity of Assistant Professor in the Department of Buddhist Studies, University of Delhi continuously since February 2, 2006 till date. Apart from teaching assignments, Dr. Singh has also been involved in other Departmental activities like assisting the editors of the Departmental journal titled "Buddhist Studies". Dr. Arvind Kumar Singh has written two books on Buddhism and its related aspects i.e. Animals in Early Buddhism (2006) and A Text Book of the History of Theravada Buddhism (2007) (Co-Edited with Prof. K. T. S. Sarao). Dr. Singh also compiled a book titled Researches in Buddhist Studies: A Descriptive Bibliography. Another book titled "Schism in Early Buddhism" is under publication. In addition to these mainstream areas of research and other Departmental activities, Dr. Singh also presented papers on numerous occasions on different aspects of Buddhism from time to time in various seminars and conferences of national and international repute in India and abroad.
